Scan and Share-LG Smartscan Mouse

A computer mouse’s basic functions are to click, drag and drop but did you know that it can also be used as a scanner? Yes that’s right. LG’s LSM-100 mouse breaks the boundaries of computer hardware functions by adding a scanner function to the common mouse. This sounds absolutely cool, and yes it does.

Now you can scan literary materials (say, a book, document or a handwritten letter) and even images on a magazine and maps and then save it to your pc literally. You won’t need to use those bulky and heavy flatbed scanners anymore because the LSM lets you do all the scanning work.

To use Smartscan simply press the smartscan button on the left side of the mouse and swipe it smoothly from left to right across the material to be scanned much like wiping a window clean. This goes the same with pictures. This device is also equipped with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology that can detect text materials or documents and then convert them into editable text. Scanned images can be saved in almost every kind of format like JPEG, PNG, PDF, XLS, TIFF and DOC.

The LSM-100’s scanning capacity is up to A3 in size unlike most portable scanners that are only capable of scanning smaller-sized images. The LG Smartscan mouse is available in the market and is priced £85.
