Infinity Blade on iOS is Epic Games’ most profitable game ever made

Last time we’ve introduced you to Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4 which is really awesome and gives us a hint to what we should be seeing for the next generation of games. It was also mentioned there that current console units won’t be able to utilize Epic’s new technology (I feel sorry for them).

Infinity Blade by Epic Games

Epic Games is known for developing games like the Gears of War series as well as Infinity Blade developed for iOS. Most console makers see mobile devices as a non-profitable media for game development. Epic Games see it in a different point of view.

According to the company’s co-founders Tim Sweeney and Mark Rein, the currently iOS-only, Chair-developed Infinity Blade is “the most profitable game they’ve ever made”. In his Twitter account, Rein posted a shout out saying “Epic IB the ‘most profitable game’-in terms of man years invested versus revenue only, not total profit.” Sweeney in his statement in Gamasutra tells the same and reveals that Infinity Blade is more profitable than Gears of War and the pace is only picking up. Also revealed by Sweeney is Epic’s new engine strategy called Unreal Everywhere which can be used on all platforms worldwide, including PC online and web browsers with Flash, thought he didn’t mention it’s launch date.

Expect more news about Epic Games’ plans and moves in the coming months. It’ll definitely make all of us more interested. Stay tuned!
