Google+ New Android Update: Now You Can Start Your Hangouts Straight From Your Phone!

Google is phasing fast with updating its Google+ Android App, reinstating the stream’s layout with bigger photos and less white space, which is remarkably similar to the recent update on iOS devices. But there’s a big “la crème de la crêpe” (if you don’t mind the language). With the new update, users can now start video chats- famously known in the social media as Hangouts- right from their phones.

Google proudly claims that the new update is all about “polish and performance”. The new change in the layout and navigation ties with Google’s evolving change in the web-browsing service of what it calls ” simpler, more beautiful Google”.

To start it up, when users use the app on their Android phones, they’ll be brought to their personal stream instead of directing them to a sparse of menu options that’s lying around a wasteland of white background. To navigate, simply tap the stream icon (basically known as the “house”) in the top corner. That brings out a menu that is popping out from the side- a very similar feature we see on the Facebook app.

Multi-person video hangout is such a pain in the ass for supporting multiple connections- especially through phone. Google has had some of support to this content in their earlier version but the new update skillfully brings the ability to start them from your Android device, phone or tablet. In this update, Hangout is the main navigation menu. Just tap it, enter you query (which may be names, emails, or circles of the people you want to get connected to) and choose the one you’re looking for. By the way, as an important matter to always take note, Hangouts support up to 10 people simultaneously chatting.

In addition to new hangout features, Google+  for Android now lets you +1 posts right from the stream, download photos from posts and even edit posts right from your phone.

Using the app on our phone really made us glad of the new and improved layout and not to mention the sleek of the layout photos that really needs to be touched and the way it “fade” as you swipe it- very dynamic indeed! Try your turn to enjoy the experience as well. Until next time- with new and even more surprising updates. But before that, check out these comparison below.
