If you have been playing your iTunes in a while now and is an avid Apple device user, then its time you should know what’s new about your famed devices. Apple, noted to be the creator of iPod and iTunes which are its greatest platform for music downloads, Mac laptop and desktop computers, the OS X system and the revolutionary iPhone and iPad, is sailing its services into the Philippines. The Cupertino-based tech giant has opened stores for music downloads, movies and other digital content to Filipino users, as well as other 11 Asian countries later yesterday.
The new direction effectively allows Filipinos who are using iPod, iPhone, iPad, Mac and other PCs to enter the digital store’s rich musical content of about 20 million songs currently available on Apple’s digital distribution platform. Other countries included in the market list of Apple’s expansion are Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. With this expansion, Apple added that this Asian entry of their market would improve and encourage the entry of Asian contents to their platform and increase the number of audience who will avail and download contents from the store.
“Customers can also rent or purchase movies from the iTunes Store, with many available in stunning HD, from major studios including 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, The Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures,” as stated by Apple.
iTunes revolutionized the music industry in the West as well as other European countries through its introduction of low-cost DRM-free MP3 downloads at a price of $0.99 per song and its partnerships to musical recording companies and well-known musical shows such the American Idol. It also allowed a new feature of movie renting starting at a price of $2.99, where users can keep copy of the movie good for a period of 30 days, and will have 48 hours of viewing time once users hit the Play Button.
In relation to TV show downloads, Apple didn’t mention any words where TV shows can be downloaded from the Apple iTunes Store.
